Liposuction is performed as an outpatient procedure in our surgical facility in Oxnard using conscious sedation or local tumescent anesthesia. The procedure typically takes about two hours, depending on the areas being treated, followed by recovery under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Liposuction Recovery
Recovery is typically quick, with many patients seeing a noticeable improvement in their body contours almost immediately. Some bruising, swelling, and discomfort are expected during the first few days, and many patients are able to return to work after just a few days of rest. Which One Will Give You the Result You Want?
This is one of the most important questions in body contouring.
Liposuction removes unwanted fat.
A tummy tuck addresses excess abdominal skin and can address abdominal wall concerns that liposuction alone cannot correct.
If your primary concern is localized abdominal fat and your skin has good elasticity, liposuction may be exactly what you need.
If pregnancy or major weight changes have left you with significant loose abdominal skin or other changes that liposuction cannot correct, a tummy tuck may provide a much more dramatic transformation.
And for some patients, combining a tummy tuck with liposuction creates the most comprehensive abdominal contouring result.

Typically, we ask patients to assess their pain level, and consistently, all patients have reported their pain level between 0 and 1 on a scale from 0 to 10.

There are limitations to the amount of fatty tissue that can be safely removed from the body in a single liposuction procedure. One way to gauge this for yourself is to stand and bend from the waist. The amount of 'loose-hanging' fat that you can easily grab above/below your waist will approximate what can be removed by VASER Lipo. The primary treatment for Gynecomastia is Male Breast Liposuction. Depending on the type and amount of fatty or glandular tissue, two treatment options are available. Liposuction, with a smaller scar typically located on the outside edge of the breast, is preferred by most patients due to minimal scarring. Direct Excision with Liposuction involves a larger incision around the areola, approximately 1-1/2 inches. This method allows for the removal of a larger volume of fat or glandular tissue and is used in combination with liposuction for smoothing edges using the "feathering" technique.
Dr. Hanna will discuss the best treatment option based on the amount of tissue that needs removal. Male Breast Liposuction alone can sometimes be more challenging for extracting all fat/glandular tissue.
After the surgery, you will be given a compression vest to wear, effectively reducing swelling. The removal of fatty and glandular tissue creates dead space, which the compression vest helps minimize.
Most patients return to work in two days after the surgery. Medical excuse letters for work are available upon request.
